about me

Dylan Goh | 19 | Sydney | student, artist, curator, educator |

My creative practice investigates how human experiences, attitudes and behaviours can be manipulated by elements such as hyperreal social media and the urban city. Fascinated with how we formulate and reinforce our self-concepts, I enjoy holding mirrors up to confront people with their authentic selves. My works are snapshots of our footprints; our milieu; and our obsessions.

Crossing diverse media (from installation to photography to ceramics), my process is driven by intuition and improvisation. Whether as a performer, facilitator or maker, I am always present, suggesting a direct translation of personal experiences. There is an omnipresent consideration on how audiences will hold, move within, play and relate to my works.

I am currently studying Commerce / Design at the University of New South Wales where I lead the making society MAKE Club and have worked on a light installation for Vivid Sydney. In addition, I am a Youth Curator for the City of Sydney and a gallery host at the Museum of Contemporary Art.

Dylan Goh (also known as Arcai) is an award-winning, artist, curator, producer and dancer with 9 years’ experience in the creative industries. Working between Seoul and Sydney on Gadigal and Bidjigal Country, he is passionate about platforming experimental dance, street dance and diasporic stories through community-driven programming.

Dylan is the Creative Producer / Founder of Palette Session Australia - a dance collective organising experimental dance sessions for freestyle dancers of all genres to discover the unique colour of their movement and celebrate the unique colour of others. A session is a gathering of dancers who improvise to music with the intent of developing their craft and building tight-knit communities.

He recently completed a 15-month fellowship in South Korea to advance Australian-Korean cultural diplomacy through experimental and street dance communities. As a cultural correspondent for the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Commonwealth of Australia, Dylan undertook a 7-month interview series to introduce dancers, organisers and dance collectives within these communities to a readership of Australian street dancers. He was an interpreter for the experimental dance battle Gyeol (결) and worked as a Strategy Intern at Palette Session to establish an Australian chapter for the Korean experimental dance collective.

Dylan was a 2023 finalist for the Asian-Australian Leadership Award (Under 25 Rising Star) and an alumnus of the New Colombo Plan. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Design from UNSW and he is currently completing a Certificate III in Live Production and Technical Services from TAFE NSW.
